GP’s are often the first point of contact for people who are experiencing problems as a result of their drinking. All GP’s should be able to provide general medical services and healthcare to those who are experiencing physical symptoms which may be related to alcohol use.
GP’s may provide a full service or they may refer you to community/specialist services.

Hospital is another first point of contact, especially if the drinker is suffering from withdrawal or has had an accident. Any liver problems can be discovered or further investigated. In patient detox may be required - with drip / Vitamin B and surveillance. Alcohol Liaison Team's at QMC and at City (NADT)
The Health Shop

The Health Shop provides a drop in service, offering practical support information and advice on all aspects of sexual health, HIV/AIDS, and blood borne viruses, sexually transmitted infections and other health related issues.
Prostitute Outreach Workers (POW)

POW offers a free, comprehensive, confidential, drop in and outreach service to those involved in or wishing to exit from prostitution and drug misuse. It consists of both outreach and drop in services. The service also caters for family and friends of individual’s involved in prostitution. Sexual health and referrals on to other agencies

Nottingham Alcohol and Drug Team (NADT)
This is a service for anyone 18 or over that would like help with their alcohol or drug problems. The Nottingham Alcohol and Drug team consists of John Storer Clinic, New Castle House, Porchester Day Unit and the Wells Road Centre, as well as satellite clinics across Nottinghamshire in GP surgeries and hospitals.
